The Android OS is open-source, so it has a lot of easter eggs and secret codes that let you access settings you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise and get important information about your phone or tablet that would otherwise be hidden. In this post, we’ll make a list of all the Android secret codes and USSD codes you can use to access settings, hidden features, and other information on your Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi/Redmi, Vivo, Realme/Oppo, Oppo, Nokia, etc. smartphone or tablet.

OS makers often make secret backchannels and easter eggs in the form of USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) and secret codes. Before and after these number MMI and USSD codes, you need an asterisk (*) and a hash (#) for them to work. Most of the time, Android users don’t need these secret codes because the hidden features and information they reveal aren’t useful. If you’re looking for an Android master unlock code that will help you get into your phone’s bootloader, you’re chasing a wild horse.

Here are some more secret codes and USSD codes for Android devices, in addition to the ones mentioned above. Some of these may not work for you, depending on the maker of your device, the type of your phone, and the software version you have.

Major Secret Codes for the Android

With the Android secret codes mentioned below, you can find out important things about your device and sometimes change small things. But if you find Android secret codes that don’t work for you, it could be because you have a newer version of Android. Some codes only work with certain versions of Android. I used the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with OneUI 5.1 (Android 13) and the LG Wing with Android 12 to test some of the codes.

1. Press *#06# to see the IMEI number

This is the most common USSD code, and all phones and computers can use it. Just open your phone’s dialer and type *#06#. The IMEI number will show up on the screen.

2. *#*#4636#*#* – Show information about the device

With this Android secret code, you can find out details about your network, such as your IMEI number, phone number, IMSI number, network region, roaming status, signal strength for a data network type, download and upload bandwidth in KBPS, and more. You can also show all user data with this USSD code, as shown in the screenshot below. I tried this code on my Galaxy S22 Ultra, OnePlus Nord, LG Wing, and Realme/Oppo 8s, but it didn’t work on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Try entering *#*#4636#*#* into your phone’s dialer to see if it works.

3. Dial *#*#7780#*#* to do a factory reset.

You can reset your Android phone or tablet by dialing *#*#7780#*#* instead of getting to device settings or using ADB commands. The code will delete all of your device’s data, video files, call logs, messages, and third-party apps, putting it back to the way it was when you bought it.

4. Dial *2767*3855# to erase the phone and reinstall the software

Using *#*#7780#*#* to wipe an Android phone or tablet doesn’t do much more than that. But *2767*3855# goes one step further. It not only puts your phone back to how it was when it came out of the factory, but it also reinstalls the software. Please don’t even try these codes to see if they work.

5. *#0228# – Check the state of the battery

No one would want to use the code *#0228# because it gives detailed information about the battery on an Android device.

6. *#0*# – Test mode for hardware

I don’t know if *#0*# would work on an Android device that isn’t a Samsung because it didn’t work at all on LG and OnePlus. You can bring up the hardware test mode on the screen of your Android by calling this secret code. As you can see, your phone’s screen will have 18 tiles. By hitting the tiles, you can test the (RGB) display, vibration, mega cam, front camera, receiver, sensors, touch sensitivity, speaker, barcode emulator, subkey, device version, etc.

7. Press *43# to turn on call waiting

Even cheap cell phones have the call-waiting feature, and it’s a good idea to keep it turned on. Call waiting is easy to set up in your phone’s settings, but you can also do the same thing by dialing this Android number. This Android secret code can be used in a few different ways. For example, you can use #43# to stop call waiting and *#43# to see if call waiting is on or off.

8. Type *#67# to check the state of call forwarding

You can use this USSD code to find out if your phone calls are being sent to another phone number. You’ll see a pop-up box that tells you where your phone calls are being sent.

9. *#21# – Check the state of call forwarding

On Android or iOS, you can use this USSD code to find out how absolute call forwarding is working.

10. *#62# – Check the state of call forwarding when you can’t be reached

Have you set up your device to forward calls when it’s out of range of the network? To do that, you can use the USSD code *#62#.

11. Pressing ##002# will stop all call forwarding.

Dialing ##002# just deletes all of your phone’s call routing. Both Android and iOS can use this USSD code.

12. *31# to hide caller ID

If you don’t want your caller ID to show up when you call someone else, you can deactivate it by dialing *31#. This little USSD code can be used to turn on a privacy option that is useful. You can also hide your caller ID for a certain person by dialing #31#[phone number].

Using this code, you can turn on or off caller ID to keep your privacy and keep other people from knowing when you call them.

13. Type *#004# to check the state of call forwarding

You can use this USSD code on your Android device to check the status of call forwarding or call diversion, activate it for a particular phone number, turn off the service, or just delete all call forwarding or call diversion. You can check the state of call forwarding by dialing *#004#, but there are 3 other ways to use this code for different tasks.

*#004*[without the boxes, type your phone number]# – Send calls to a certain phone number #004# – Turn off call forwarding ##004# – Get rid of all call forwarding

14. *#9090# – Open the diagnostic setup screen

By typing *#9090# on your Android phone’s dialer, you can open the diagnostic settings screen in the Service Mode menu. You can change some really difficult system settings that are not meant for regular people. Don’t mess with these settings unless you know what will happen if you do.

15. *#0011# is Service Mode

This code takes your Android device back to the Service mode. By typing *#0011# on the dialer pad, you can see the results of the network setup test, the MIPI test, and the IMEI status test.

16. *#2222# – Check the version of the hardware

This simple Android secret code tells you the FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) Hardware version and its patch version. This can be used to find out if a phone is new or has been fixed.

17. Type *#1234# to check the software version (Samsung and OnePlus).

If you have a Samsung Galaxy or OnePlus phone, dialing *#1234# will show you the model number and software version of your phone. On some Android phones, the same thing happens when you type *#*#1234#*#*.

18. Type *#12580*369# to check the version of the software and hardware

Another Samsung-only secret number, *#12580*369#, can be used to find out the software version (BL, AP, CP, or CSC). You can also find out the Hardware release version and the RF Cal (Radio Frequency Calibration) date, which can also be the date your Samsung phone was made.

19. *#0283# – Check the audio loopback control

If you think one of your phone’s speakers is broken, you can use *#0283# to check each speaker or microphone on its own.

20. *#34971539# – Check camera’s settings

I don’t think anyone ever looks at the software version of a smartphone or tablet’s front or back camera. But since *#34971539# is one of the few Android secret numbers that works, we’re going to talk about it here.

21. *#9900#: Start the System Dump mode

Some Android users might find *#9900# to be a very useful secret number. For example, if your phone is almost out of storage space, you can use the Delete dumpstate/logcat choice to add 1 to 2 GB to your phone’s memory. Also, you’ll find a long list of things that are dangerous to play with if you don’t know what they are.

22. **04* – Change the PIN on your Android device

You can change the lock screen PIN on your Android device without getting into the settings by using this secret code. You just need to type this code in the style shown below.

04[old Pin][new Pin][new Pin][new Pin]#

I looked at at least 80 Android secret codes and USSD numbers. There are websites with lists of hundreds of Android numbers that try to say they have the most. In reality, only a few of the numbers on the web really work. Please let me know if you have a working Android code or USSD code that is not on this page so that I can add it.

23. Change your SIM card’s PIN.

If your SIM card has a PIN, you’ll need the PUK (PIN unlocking key) every time you put it in a different phone. You can change your SIM PIN and get in if you use the following USSD codes in the style shown below.

**04*[Old PIN]*[New PIN]*[New PIN]# **05*[PUK]*[New PIN]*[New PIN]#

The SAR, or Specific Absorption Rate, is a way to measure how fast RF (radio frequency) energy from a smartphone or other wireless device is taken in by the human body. You can type *#07# into the phone’s speaker to find out what the highest SAR level is.
